Military Selection Foundation

Build the Foundation Before Selection

Preparing for Special Operations selection starts long before you begin a selection-specific training program.

If you're more than four months from SFAS, RASP, MARSOC A&S, or another military selection, your priority shouldn't be heavy rucking every week or trying to mimic selection. It should be building the physical qualities that allow you to get the most out of selection-specific training when the time comes.

The programs in this collection are designed to help you build the strength, running ability, aerobic capacity, work capacity, muscle, and durability needed to become a more complete tactical athlete. Whether you're preparing one year from now or simply want to build a stronger foundation before specializing, these evidence-based programs develop the engine that successful candidates rely on.

Many athletes make the mistake of starting a selection-specific program before they're physically prepared to handle it. A better approach is to first improve your speed, endurance, strength, and resilience with these foundational programs. Then, when you're within approximately four months of selection, transition into a dedicated preparation program like the SFAS Training Program or Ruck | Run | Lift to sharpen the specific skills and demands required for selection.

Train with purpose. Build the foundation first.
